At Tapestry Church, we believe that we have a role to play in caring for the city of Oakland and it's residents during this COVID-19 season.
Our neighbors all across the city have had their lives impacted by the disruption that the coronavirus is causing. Below are details about several different ways that we can step in as a church to be the hands and feet of Jesus today.
1) Schedule an appointment to donate blood at the Oakland American Red Cross Blood Donation Center.
2) Participate in the Alameda Food Bank Virtual Food Drive by shopping at their online grocery store. You can do this as an individual or as part of a group.
3) Support Education For Change (the education network that Learning Without Limits is a part of) families and children by donating to their Go Fund Me campaign. The money raised will be used to support families at EFC schools by buying groceries and meeting other tangible needs. More details on the campaign page.
4) Call someone you know who is in quarantine and ask how they are doing. Encourage them to let us know if they have any needs we can help meet by filling out the request form for the Tapestry Church Needs Network.
5) Reach out to your neighborhood via Nextdoor or Facebook and see if there are any ways that you can help your neighbors.
6) Write 2-3 thank you cards/notes to doctors and nurses at your local hospital, or the store workers at your local grocery store to thank them for their work during this difficult time. Some examples of hospital wards to write to:
Highland Hospital ICU:
Highland Hospital
1411 E. 31st St., Acute Care Tower, Fifth Floor,
Oakland, CA 94602.
&
Highland Hospital ER:
Highland Hospital Emergency Department
Critical Care Building
1411 E. 31st St., 4th Floor (street level),
Oakland, CA 94602.
7) Support your favorite local independent restaurant by buying a gift card to be used at a later date, or ordering take out.
