Why the Church Needs YOU
This is who we are: People of many cultures woven together into the fabric of Oakland to display the beauty of God’s story. A tapestry is only beautiful if varied strands are interwoven throughout the picture. At Tapestry Church, we are striving for a worship service that is not aimed at “excellence” as much as it’s aimed at beauty. And that can’t happen unless we have the varied strands of our community investing their time, talents, and voice in the work of the church.
When people from diverse backgrounds and giftings contribute the ministry of the church, everyone thrives. In his first letter to the Corinthians, the apostle Paul likens the church to the human body. “If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.” Each person has a part to play in Tapestry Church, and each part is valuable to the community.
This Sunday, August 26th, we are having a Ministry Focus Meeting after church. Lunch will be provided, and so will a vision. A vision for Sunday worship. A vision for the ministry of a whole “body”. If you’re interested in being more involved at Tapestry Church or even if you are already on a Sunday team, join us after the service this Sunday to explore using the gifts God has given you.
